Our Partners

Everyday, Crisis & Counseling staff work with other community agencies, schools, law enforcement and others, to provide care for mutual clients and services to the community. Below are some of those we work with on both an informal and formal contract basis. (This is not meant to be a comprehensive list.)

Crisis Response Program Partners

C&C's Crisis program provides support to other behavioral healthcare agencies in the area and to other agencies providing in-home supports.

By contract, staff provide evaluations and referral for any and all individuals in crisis in the Emergency Rooms and inpatient medical units of:

  • Maine General Hospitals
  • Sebasticook Valley Hospital
  • Redington-Fairview General Hospital
  • Inland Hospital

Crisis staff also coordinate patient care with Riverview Psychiatric Center for crisis clients who are admitted there.

Crisis staff provide emergency assessments and referral for:

  • All Kennebec and Somerset schools, calling on behalf of a student or family
  • Kennebec and Somerset county jails, calling on behalf of an inmate

The Crisis department has strong relationships with the local law enforcement throughout the two-county area and often work side by side with officers in crisis situations.

In Waterville, Crisis & Counseling Centers has had a unique partnership with the Waterville Police Department through the Ride Along Program, which pairs a Crisis & Counseling staff person with a patrolling police officer during evening hours.

The work of several local law enforcement agencies is augmenting our Crisis OutReach effort to help people avert a crisis as well as to fully resolve a crisis situation, by assuring appropriate, quality and timely care. These include:

  • Oakland Police Department
  • Winslow Police Department

These agencies are working with us to refer young offenders to crisis mental health services when appropriate and possible, rather than detaining them.

Additionally:

  • Aroostook Valley Mental Health Center is providing all after-hours psychiatric consultation to our Crisis clients, an arrangement that is more economical and sustainable than hiring our own after hours psychiatrists.
  • Kennebec Valley Mental Health Center sets aside time with their child psychiatrists for Crisis clients. Clients would otherwise need to wait weeks or months for service. Again, this is a more economical way of meeting this need than hiring our own staff child psychiatrist, especially in a region where recruiting such personnel is very difficult.

Outpatient

Our Outpatient service partners include:

  • Kennebec County Correctional Facility
  • Maranacook Schools and Dresden Elementary School, through the School-Based Collaborative
  • The Kennebec Co-Occurring Court
  • The Juvenile Drug Treatment Court
  • Riverview Psychiatric Center

For more information about our Outpatient partners, please see "Specialized Programs" under "Outpatient Care."

GEAR Statewide Parent Network

In providing services to parents of children with behavioral health needs, GEAR - a chapter organization of the Federation of Families for Children's Mental Health - works collaboratively with several other statewide agencies, including:

  • Maine Parent Federation
  • Autism Society of Maine
  • NAMI Maine
  • Developmental Disabilities Council
