Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Program

Applying to the Program

Is the Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Program (AIOP) the right fit for you? We’ll complete an assessment with you to figure that out. The questions in the assessment will cover your use of substances and also any depression or anxiety you may have, along with other topics. If you participate in the AIOP, we won’t just focus on your use of substances, but on factors that may contribute to and increase the negative consequences of your use.

What the Program Involves

Individualized Treatment Plan: Based on the assessment and meetings with staff, an “individualized treatment plan” (ITP) will be created with goals for you to achieve during your participation in the program.

Group: The AIOP meets from 3:30 p.m. —5:45 p.m., every Monday through Thursday. The program typically is five to seven weeks long. A variety of treatment and skill-building groups will be offered that will support you in making positive choices and changes in your life. These will include Communication, Healthy Relationships, Dealing with Emotions, and Considering Consequences.

Individual & Family Meetings: At times, you may also meet individually with staff to discuss progress on your ITP and other issues. Family treatment sessions (that would include other members of your family) will also be offered when the clinical team feels they are appropriate.

Important Considerations

The only way to make this program work for you is to be substance free while you are participating. In order to ensure this and to create a safe and fair environment for all participants, random drug testing will be used. Regular attendance is also required.

Graduating from the Program

You will graduate from the AIOP if, during your participation you:

  • attend AIOP regularly
  • remain substance-free
  • complete the goals in your ITP

After graduation, support will still be available to you through the Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Aftercare Program.
