Specialized Programs

As a leader in quality care, Crisis & Counseling Centers has been awarded numerous contracts and is a participant in several collaborative projects to provide service to targeted populations. These programs include the following:

Kennebec County Correctional Center
Mental health and substance abuse treatment, case management and medication management services to inmates, on-site, at the Kennebec County Correctional Center, in Augusta.

School-Based Collaborative
As part of the School-Based Behavioral Health Collaborative with Kennebec Valley Mental Health Center and HealthReach Network, Crisis & Counseling Centers provides on-site outpatient treatment at Maranacook Schools and Dresden Elementary School, on a weekly basis throughout the school year.

Co-Occurring Disorders Court
Crisis & Counseling Centers is a primary provider of treatment services to adults referred through the newly established Kennebec Co-Occurring Court (KCOC), an alternative sentencing program for adult offenders with co-occurring mental illness and substance abuse disorders. The Court provides an excellent opportunity to divert offenders from unnecessary incarceration while enhancing their access to rehabilitative services and holding them accountable for their conduct. The KCOC participants include Superior Court Justice Nancy Mills; Kennebec County District Attorney Evert Fowle; Justice Rae Ann French; NAMI Maine; Crisis & Counseling Centers; Maine Defense Attorneys; Disability Rights Center; Office of Substance Abuse; Kennebec County Correctional Center; Maine Court System; Maine Pretrial Services, Probation & Parole; Department of Health and Human Services; and the Co-Occurring Collaborative of Southern Maine.

Juvenile Drug Treatment Court
Crisis & Counseling Centers is part of the statewide Juvenile Corrections Substance Abuse Treatment Network, which screens and refers juvenile offenders upon initial contact with the justice system, providing an alternative to jail. The Network is a collaboration of the Office of Substance Abuse, the Department of Corrections, and treatment providers statewide. The Portland - based agency Day One is contracted by the Office of Substance Abuse to staff and manage the Network.
